This house was built in 1996 for an elderly couple on a tight corner site overlooking the Adelaide coast and St Vincent Gulf. The seaward half of the site was a steep slope of unconsolidated fill. The owners wanted three bedrooms and living areas, plus a large conservatory for an indoor garden. The best way to light the conservatory was a series of four northward-facing skylights, which dominate the roof. The steep western slope provided the opportunity for a downstairs area, inserted between the muscular concrete support work.
