Car Wash, Totness, S.A.

This building is four car-wash bays, a machinery room, and a roof. The roof was intended to look light, as if it is on tip-toe; the architectural devices used to create this impression were to lift it clear of the walls, divide it down the middle with a skylight, and to use raking columns which look as if they’re holding it down. Now 10 years old, this project retains its commercial popularity, with plenty of queuing room and easy vehicular circulation.
